JYP highest-paid with $1.7m in music royalties
Musician Park Jin-young, also known as JYP, turned out to be the highest-paid Korean musician in music sales royalties last year.
According to industry watchers, Park topped the list among musicians -- including composers, songwriters and musical arrangers -- followed by composer Cho Yeong-su, citing data from the Korea Music Copyright Association.
Member of indie band Busker Busker and singer-songwriter Jang Beom-jun, whose song “Cherry Blossom Ending” is in vogue every spring, also ranked in the top 10 for the first time.
Park reportedly earned close to 2 billion won ($1.7 million) in music sales royalties.
However, industry insiders said, “Since the association made royalties private from 2010, the figure is not official.”
