Singer Park Jae-sang, better known by his stage name Psy, turned out to have donated 500 million won ($431,000) to set up a “Psy treatment center” in a local children’s hospital a year ago, Yonhap reported Thursday.

The treatment center was set up in November of last year and more than 5,000 patients in need of psychical and language treatment were treated during the last one year, according to Yonsei Severance Hospital located in Seoul.

The hospital’s official said, “Normally, around 10 to 20 patients -- sometimes up to 30 -- visit the center a day, set up by Psy’s donation.”

“The charity work has not been revealed because the singer did not want to make it public,” said a person familiar with the matter.

Psy, who is internationally known for his single “Gangnam Style,” is set to return to the stage on Dec. 1 with a new album. He will also hold a three-day concert “All-night stand 2015” slated for Dec. 24.
