K-pop girl group 2NE1 will release a new album on Nov. 21, according to industry insiders Wednesday. It was expected to some extent, as the quartet’s label YG Entertainment previously released a teaser poster through its official blog, which reads “who’s next?” along with the date Nov. 21 and a time listed as 21:00, or 9 p.m.

The news, however, aroused controversy among some K-pop fans, as it is contradictory to what YG Entertainment chief Yang Hyun-suk recently said in an interview about the group’s member Park Bom. Yang said Park Bom needs more time for self-reflection following her drug scandal. Last year, a local newspaper reported that Park was caught by customs at Incheon International Airport in 2010 trying to smuggle in illegal drugs, reported as 82 pills of narcotic amphetamines.

Others, however, are welcoming the group’s return, as it would be the group’s first album in nearly two years after its EP “Crush” in February 2014, which swept local music charts.
