Singer-songwriter IU’s “Twenty-Three” in the latest album has caused a plagiarism dispute after fans noticed similarities between it and Britney Spears’ popular tune: “Gimme more.”

The single, released last month, is the bonus track released from IU’s new album “CHAT-SHIRE,” which has been dominating local music charts since the release.

The song has a catchy chorus that has the same sound and lyrics that sounds like Britney Spears’ song, which was released in 2007.

Listeners have compared some parts in the two songs to emphasize what some are calling plagiarism.

With the accusations going viral online, IU’s agency LOEN Tree requested Britney Spears’ agency to review the voice sample from IU’s tune.

LOEN officials explained that the composer of “Twenty-Three” used voice samples he or she owns to make the song, and that they will work to confirm the accusations as it was difficult to acknowledge the sample’s source.

“We will wait for the result of the confirmation process and reveal everything to the public once it’s out,” LOEN officials said.
