Actors Lee Seung-gi and Shim Eun-kyung’s next movie “Marital Harmony” (literal translation) is drawing attention with two contrasting investors coproducing it.

Being the second installment of Song Kang-ho’s 2013 megahit “The Face Reader,” the movie will deal with the Korean custom of checking marriage compatibility of a couple based on their birth date and time.

While many production houses eyed this movie, Little Big Pictures and CJ Entertainment, are finally coproducing it for a sum of 9 billion won.

This joint venture is being seen by industry pundits as a novel attempt.

Little Big Pictures has so far concentrated on art and indie movies such as Revivre (2014) and Madonna (2015), while CJ Entertainment has focused on commercial films.

“Marital Harmony” will portray a fictional princess of the Joseon era, who refuses to accept an arranged marriage. Shim Eun-kyung is cast as the determined royal bride, while Lee Seung-gi is cast as a genius fortune-teller.

K-pop group SHINee’s Minho, CNBLUE’s Kang Min-hyuk and actor Yeon Woo-jin will appear in the film as the candidates vying for her hand.

Filming for the movie started on Sept. 9.
