Septet AOA is the best performing K-pop female group this year on Oricon chart, coming in second in the weekly chart with its first regular album in Japan.

According to Japan’s biggest album aggregator Wednesday AOA’s “Ace of Angels” sold over 22 thousand copies in a week since its release on Oct. 14.

AOA had closely competed against Japan’s biggest pop group AKB48’s trio unit French Kiss on daily rankings, but eventually slid to second place in the weekly top rank by a margin of approximately 2,000 copies.

Still a remarkable feat for a foreign group, Fuji TV Mezamashi called AOA the next generation of hallyu idols, alongside hugely popular male group EXO.

The hallyu girls have to credit their new exclusive Japanese songs and choreography for their success.

Album “Ace of Angels” holds a total of 11 songs, include title song “Oh BOY,” and new songs “Lemon Slush” and “Stay with me.”

The group held promotional performances to mark its launch between Oct. 15 and 18 at Japan’s Fukuoka, Osaka and Tokayo.
