Girls’ Generation grabs nine trophies with ‘Lion Heart’

K-pop girl group Girls’ Generation won nine awards on a TV music ranking programs with it latest release “Lion Heart.”

The eight-member group on Sunday ranked No.1 on SBS’ “Inkigayo,” after competing with two others -- Big Bang and Hyuna -- taking home their ninth trophy with lead track “Lion Heart” off the fifth LP.

“Sowon (the group’s fan club), you are the best,” the members said after receiving the award, thanking staff who helped them, family and their company.

On Sunday’s program, the girls graced the stage with black dress outfits, performing the retro-style pop hit “Lion Heart,” which has topped local charts since its release on Aug. 18.

A string of K-pop stars, including B1A4, April, Juniel and Girl Friends, appeared on Sunday’s music program.
