South Korean girl group Red Velvet will release its first album next week, its management agency said Friday.

"The Red," coming out Wednesday, will contain 10 songs, including the title track "Dumb Dumb," S.M. Entertainment said.

The five-member act is widely anticipated to become the successor to Girls' Generation, the K-pop poster child also produced by S.M. and whose members are now in their late 20s except for Seohyeon who is 24.

Red Velvet debuted last August with the single "Happiness." In March, it topped local and international charts with its first EP "Ice Cream Cake."

"Red Velvet is an up-and-comer with solid singing and performance skills," S.M. said in a release. "They will continue the strong girl group tradition set by Girls' Generation." (Yonhap)
