Psy has partnered again with the man who wrote "Gangnam Style," the 2012 single that catapulted him to global stardom, the rapper's management agency said Tuesday.

Psy and Yoo Gun-hyung have been working on his new album which is expected to come out around the end of September, YG Entertainment said. Yoo had also participated on Psy's last single "Gentleman."

Last year, Psy scrapped plans to release a new song titled "Daddy" and announced that he will try to restore his pre-"Gangnam Style" mindset to fight the pressure of being a global phenomenon.

The new album, if released next month as planned, would mark his return to the music scene after nearly two and a half years away.

Meanwhile, the music video for "Gangnam Style" surpassed 2.4 billion views on YouTube, setting another record, as of Tuesday. (Yonhap)
