U.S.-based media Rolling Stone selected CL from girl group 2NE1 as one of the “10 New Artists You Need to Know” on Monday.

“The self-proclaimed ‘Baddest Female’ is one of the buzziest female rappers in Korea, and she’s poised for a major breakthrough in the U.S. come fall with a debut EP out on Mad Decent,” Rolling Stone said. “One-fourth of the wildly famous K-pop group 2NE1, CL is now taking her career solo stateside under the helm of Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande manager Scooter Braun.”

Other artists featured in the list include Snoh Aalegra, Travis Mills, Cold Beat and Boogie.

During an interview with Rolling Stone, CL was asked whether her debut in the U.S. would make any breakthrough for K-pop singers eyeing the biggest entertainment market in the world.

“I hope so. There is no Asian artist sincerely continuing their musical career in the U.S. after Psy. So I wish to represent Asian girl singers in the U.S. music market,” she replied.

CL is set to make her debut with her new EP in September.
