Filming for “Memories of the Sword” concluded early last year with an initial anticipated release date in fall 2014, but the film faced delays due to Lee’s blackmail legal dispute.
The teaser has logged over 1 million views on Korea’s top search engine Naver, since its release on Thursday. On its first day, the teaser racked up some 620,000 views.
The movie is expected to be a summer blockbuster, since all three lead actors are major celebrated stars in Korea. Competing films are action flicks “Assassination” and “Veteran.”
“Memories of the Sword” tells the story of swordsmen living in the Goryeo dynasty and deals with themes of rivalry, revenge and greed.
Lee was first cast in the 10-billion-won film in July 2013, shortly before his August wedding, and completed filming in February 2014.
The supporting actors are Lee Jun-ho, a K-pop singer from 2PM, Lee Gyeong-young and Bae Soo-bin.
“Memories of the Sword” is scheduled to release on August 5.
