Kim Yu-na thanks MERS medical staff

Former Olympic figure skating champion Kim Yu-na expressed her support and gratitude to the medical workers fighting the current MERS outbreak in South Korea.

A photo of Kim holding a supportive placard appeared on her official Facebook page Sunday.

“Medical workers, I can see hope because you are here. I will support you. Thank you!” the message reads.

The photo was captioned, “Yuna Kim‘s gratitude and supportive message to medical workers fighting with (MERS).”

Middle East respiratory syndrome has claimed 25 lives and infected 169 people as of Sunday morning. The outbreak was discovered in South Korea on May 20.

While Korean government officials have acknowledged a slow response to combating the disease, the outbreak has recently seen signs of slowing down.
