On April 30, Korean superstar Kim Jun-su appeared on niche TV music show “EBS Space Gonggam” after six years away from the program.

Kim opened his performance with “Love Like a Snowflake” to a warm reception, but broke down in tears at the end of the concert.

A month later, the show’s producer, Lee Hye-jin, leaked the story behind Kim Jun-su’s appearance which had generated a buzz among his fans.

“We select singers who stick to their own artistic values and are able to deliver their songs live so that singers and audiences can communicate,” she explained in her article in TV & Radio Writers Journal, a monthly magazine run by the Korea TV & Radio Writers Association.

“Kim Jun-su met our standards with his conspicuous vocal and artistic talent. Fans flooded our bulletin board to express their gratitude, but all those things aside, we hoped this mega star Kim Jun-su could bring all his musical talent to our stage.”

Kim also said, “I always have expressed my dream of performing a small venue concert during several interviews, and it finally came true.”

Kim Jun-su, having been a passionate presence in musicals, is gearing up for the musical “Death Note,” which will run from June 20 to Aug. 9.
