Singer Psy said Thursday that he is “continuing to negotiate” an ongoing dispute with a cafe owner who operates a cafe in a building owned by Psy.

The cafe owner, surnamed Choi, was ordered in April to vacate the premises and move his business out of the building, located in Hannam-dong, Seoul.

Psy and his wife, however, have delayed the forcible eviction to find a “peaceful solution.”

“We haven’t reached the final stage of negotiations yet,” said Psy to local media Thursday. Psy’s lawyers are communicating directly with Choi, who dismissed his lawyer Thursday.

Choi is protesting the eviction based on claims that he signed the original contract with a previous leaseholder saying that he would be able to indefinitely renew his one-year contract.

Another succeeding leaseholder, however, requested Choi to move his business out of the building by the final day of 2013, based on plans to demolish and renovate the building.

Psy and his wife acquired ownership of the building in February 2012 and decided not to renovate the building. Psy filed an injunction against Choi to move his business out of the building in March, based on a court decision last August, but Choi has continued to fight against the decision.

The courts, however, have upheld that Psy and his wife are the legal owners of the building and that Choi is their tenant. The chief of Psy’s agency, Yang Hyun-suk from YG Entertainment, has also entered negotiations, according to reports.

The popular cafe was featured in the 2010 romantic film “Architecture 101.”
