The British broadcaster BBC has covered overseas activities by K-pop artists managed by major entertainment agencies and their bid to conquer the world market.

"For a while, it was impossible to move without 'Gangnam Style' pounding the eardrums -- whether it was Super Bowl commercials, flash mobs, primetime TV performances or mobile ringtones chiming away," Omid Scobie, an expert on the entertainment industry and K-pop genre, wrote in his article posted on the BBC news website Tuesday.

The article about leading K-pop artists managed by YG Entertainment attributed the global K-pop boom to the industry's large investment in their music videos with "unique and vibrant visuals."

"These larger than life visuals allowed fans who may not understand the language to still understand the music," it quoted Scooter Braun, the overseas manager of South Korean rapper Psy, as saying.

As for K-pop concerts, it mentioned a concert tour by the popular boy band Big Bang as an example.

"South Korean boy band Big Bang's 2013 Alive Galaxy Tour performed at 48 international stadiums, including sold-out shows at London's Wembley Arena."

It labeled CL as the next runner in the K-pop scene.

"And for those still unaware of the genre, Braun's next discovery could be about to change things. Step forward 24-year-old Korean pop sensation CL," it said.

"Hailing from one of K-pop's biggest girl groups, 2NE1, the singer and rapper has more than 45 million Asia single sales under her belt and is already a favorite among U.S. producers and elite fashion designers." (Yonhap)
