Korean TV romantic drama "The Girl Who Sees Smells" concluded Thursday evening, with the highest viewer ratings in its time slot.

"The Girl Who Sees Smells," based on the original Web toon, starred actress Shin Se-kyung and K-pop singer Park Yoo-chun, from trio JYJ, in the lead roles.

Shin and Park played an oddly-matched couple -- a girl who has supernatural sensory perception, such as the ability to "see" smells, and a boy who has lost all sensory perception.

It concluded with a nationwide viewership of 10.8 percent, according to Nielsen ratings, up 1.2 percent from its previous episode.

Its rival program "Warm and Cozy" recorded nationwide ratings of 6.7 percent.

The final episode featured the lead romantic couple chasing and defeating a serial killer, resulting in a happy ending.

Local media said that the SBS TV drama's legacy will be its unusual subject matter, skillful CGI effects and blended romance-thriller genre.

Local media also praised the feel-good aspect of the TV drama, in contrast to the recent dominance of sensationalist melodramas.

"The Girl Who Sees Smells" has sold rights to be aired in Japan, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia and Cambodia. Talks are also underway to export the drama series to Hong Kong, Vietnam and Thailand.
