South Korean actress Ku Hye-sun was apologetic on Wednesday for the criticism her acting style in the drama “Blood” drew. The drama came to an end on Tuesday.

“I felt very apologetic for all the production staff members, my senior and junior actors for the criticisms caused by my acting and character depiction,” Ku said through her management agency YG Entertainment.

She also expressed her gratitude to her fellow actors and “Blood” staff for being considerate and treating her with respect despite the swirling controversy around her acting style.

Ku played a vampire surgeon with perfects looks and intelligence but tries to conceal her grief. The role was a considerable shift for her, as she usually played cheerful characters with optimistic personality throughout her acting career.

The 32-year-old actress, however, faced harsh criticism from viewers for her performance in the drama. Critics have mainly focused on the mannerism the actress has used in her portrayal of her character and her exaggerative acting style.

The KBS2 TV series has suffered flagging viewership ratings from start to finish, ending up with a rating of 5 percent, according to Nielson Korea.
