Former EXO member Luhan has wished his ex-bandmate Lay well for his future in an interview with a Chinese news outlet Sunday.

Luhan, who turns 24 on Monday, revealed his birthday wish that his loved ones and those who love him would stay happy and healthy.

Asked about ex-bandmate Lay pursuing activities in China under the “Workshop” system, Luhan said Lay is “lucky.”

“Everyone has their own way. I wish him well,” Luhan said.

The Chinese idol also said he is still in private contact with Lay.

SM Entertainment created a so-called “Workshop” system for Chinese member Lay to support his career in China. Under the system, SM Entertainment will allow Lay to sign a sub-contract with local agencies to better promote his activities in the country.

K-pop insiders view the move as part of efforts to prevent the further departure of Chinese members from the 10-member group.

EXO has already lost two members -- Kris and Luhan -- who filed for termination of their exclusive contracts last year. The legal battle is still underway.

Undeterred by his split from EXO, Luhan has been actively engaged in the Chinese entertainment scene. He is currently shooting Hollywood film “The Great Wall” alongside well-known actor Matt Damon.
