CL, leader of popular South Korean girl group 2NE1, was not included in TIME magazine's official list of its 100 most influential people of 2015 released Friday.

On the magazine's online voting for the list unveiled earlier this week, the rapper ranked second next to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The final list included U.S. President Barack Obama, Putin, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Chinese President Xi Jinping, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and Pope Francis.

The TIME 100 is the magazine's annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world, spanning politics, entertainment, business, technology, science, religion and other fields. TIME editors choose their annual official list based on online poll results.

Debuting in 2009, 2NE1 hit No. 61 on the Billboard 200 chart last year, with their second full-length album "Crush," making it the highest-ranked K-pop album ever on the list.

CL was the third Korean singer to be nominated, after Rain and Psy.

Rain's name was put on the final list twice in 2006 and 2011, becoming the first Asian singer to do so, but Psy failed to make the cut in 2013. (Yonhap)
