K-pop stars mourn for Sewol ferry victims

Chanyeol, a member of K-pop boy band EXO, remembered the victims of the Sewol ferry disaster through his Instagram on Thursday, the first anniversary of the tragedy that claimed more than 300 lives.

He posted a picture of a yellow ribbon, which symbolizes commemoration of the victims, with a phrase: “Remember 20140416. Sewol ferry, we will never forget.”

He is among the many singers who remembered the victims through their social networking pages. Seohyun of Girls’ Generation, Hyeri of Girl’s Day, Siwon of Super Junior, Yoseob of BEAST, Han Seung-yeon of Kara and Jo Kwon of 2AM also wrote their condolence messages online.

On April 16 last year, the Sewol ferry capsized en route to Jejudo Island and killed a total of 304, mostly teenage students from Danwon High School in Ansan, Gyeonggi Province, who were on a field trip.
