JYJ member Jaejoong enlisted in the Army under tight secrecy on Tuesday for a nearly two-year mandatory military service.

The 29-year-old singer-actor kept where he would receive his weeks-long training a secret from reporters and fans to make a low-key enlistment.

Some 300 fans waited for Jaejoong to cheer him up at the scene, holding up placards that read “I will protect you, Jaejoong” and “Goodbye, Jaejoong.”

But Jaejoong sneaked into the training camp located in Paju, Gyeonggi Province, at around 2 p.m. upon arriving in a white car without turning up in front of his fans, local media reported.

Some fans, who were unable to see Jaejoong at the site, even shed tears after being told that he already entered the boot camp.

He is tentatively scheduled to be discharged from service after 21 months on Dec. 30, 2016.

Jaejoong bade farewell to his fans during his two-day solo concert series, “The Beginning of The End,” at Korea University’s Hwajung Gymnasium in Seoul on Saturday and Sunday.

It was reported that scalped tickets for his Sunday show sold for as high as 1 million won ($903) to avid fans who were eager to bask in his final moments before enlistment.

Jaejoong is set to release his second solo studio album soon, but an exact release date is yet to be confirmed.

Super Junior member Sungmin also enlisted in the Army the same day, a week after his bandmate Shindong joined the Army on March 24.

In Korea, all able-bodied men aged between 18 and 35 have to serve about two years in the military to deter threats from North Korea.
