Rookie K-pop band Red Velvet has topped SBS’ music show “Inkigayo” on Sunday with its latest track “Ice Cream Cake.”

The five-member group, which released its first EP “Ice Cream Cake” on March 17, outshined Huh Gak and Davici with its eponymous track on the weekly music program.

As “Ice Cream Cake” was named as this week’s top song, the girls expressed thanks to their families, fans and staff members of SM Entertainment.

Red Velvet, the latest girl band launched by Korea’s biggest label SM Entertainment, also nabbed the No.1 spot on KBS’ music program “Music Bank” on Friday.

“Ice Cream Cake” has been receiving positive feedbacks at the K-pop scene, topping major real-time music charts, including Bugs Music, Olleh Music and Genie Music on the day of its release.

The Sunday music show “Inkigayo” also starred a host of K-pop acts including Minah, Gain, Huh Gak, FT ISLAND and Lovelyz.

Red Velvet debuted in 2014 with the single “Happiness” as a four member group under SM Entertainment, home to a number of big-name groups such as EXO, Girls’ Generation and Super Junior.

New member Yeri recently joined the former quartet, which also includes Seulgi, Irene, Wendy and Joy.
