IU, a K-pop singer who will play opposite Kim Soo-hyun in the upcoming KBS drama “Producer,” has recorded the background title track for SBS’ latest entertainment program, “Take Care of My Dad” (working title).

The program’s production team said on Sunday that the singer’s voice will lend an appropriate sentiment to the reality show featuring a father-daughter relationship.

The reality show is intended to close the gap in relationship between fathers in their 50s and daughters in their 20s by introducing joint activities for them.

“When the offer came, I took it gladly. I sang the song thinking about my own dad,” said 21-year-old IU.

A pilot broadcast of the show aired during the Lunar New Year holidays, drawing heated reponses from viewers. SBS eventually placed the program in the regular program slot.

The first official episode of “Take Care of My Dad” will air on March 21 at 8:45 p.m.
