South Korean singer-songwriter IU, who reportedly intends to return to the music scene in April, will push back the schedule to focus on shooting for the upcoming drama “Producer,” local media said Tuesday.

“IU will work on her album and star in the drama simultaneously but she will return as a singer after the drama ends,” said an official from her agency Loen Entertainment.

Earlier in February, local media reported that the 21-year-old vocalist was putting the final touches to her new album and would release it in April.

But she might have scrapped the plan to star in the KBS TV series along with veteran actress Gong Hyo-jin and actor Cha Tae-hyun. Hallyu star Kim Soo-hyun also reportedly joined the star-studded cast.
IU will play a top-tier singer, a counterpart to a rookie TV producer, played by Kim.

Written by Park Ji-eun, the scriptwriter behind the mega-hit “My Love from the Star,” the drama will comically portray the everyday lives of TV entertainment show production crew and celebrities at a broadcasting station.

The TV series will air at 11 p.m. every Friday and Saturday, starting in April.
