Seolhyun, a member of K-pop girl group AOA, has been cast as the female lead in KBS2’s forthcoming drama “Orange Marmalade.”

A spokesperson for the drama said, “I’m sure that Seolhyun will be able to satisfy the viewers’ taste. Please look forward to the synergy that may arise when Seolhyun plays her character Ma-ri.”

Seolhyun will play Baek Ma-ri, a socially withdrawn teenage girl who tries to hide her vampire identity to avoid discrimination.

The singer-actress rose to stardom through her role in “Gangnam 1970,” in which she played Lee Min-ho’s stepsister Sun-hye.

Set in an imaginary world where humans and vampires coexist, “Orange Marmalade” is about the pure love between a man and a vampire, and touches on the issue of discrimination.

Based on a webtoon of the same name, “Orange Marmalade” is scheduled to beginning airing in May.
