It was belatedly revealed Thursday that SHINee member Jonghyun took part in a campaign to prevent child abuse through his Twitter account.

The idol, who recently returned to the music scene as a solo artist on Tuesday posted a photo of the slogan for the child abuse prevention campaign endorsed by Busan police.

“All the violence in the world leads to more violence. Embrace children to make them warm,” he tweeted alongside the photo.

The move came after the Busan police encouraged Jonghyun to partake in the campaign by leaving him a message on Twitter.

“I had a dream last night that Jonghyun would participate in the ‘Don’t hit, just hug’ campaign. Can you please share our slogan on Twitter,” the Busan Police said in the message.

Launched by the Busan Police and Busan-based parents, “Don’t hit, just hug” promotes children’s rights by sharing the slogan on social media networks.

“I will happily share the slogan on Twitter. Thank you for letting me know,” Jonghyun said in response to the request.

The Busan Police also expressed its thanks to Jonghyun and his fans for supporting the campaign.

The 24-year-old heartthrob has a wide fandom at home and abroad, with more than a million followers on Twitter.

Meanwhile, he is on a roll with his solo debut album “BASE” released in January.

The album’s lead single “Deja-Boo” propelled him to the No.1 spot on several local music charts and TV music programs.
