SM Entertainment, home to such mega-hit K-pop acts as TVXQ, EXO and Girls‘ Generation, will open a hologram theater in Japan in April.

The SM Town theater, which runs from April 3 to July 5 inside a theme park located in Huis Ten Bosch, will offer Japanese K-pop fans an opportunity to virtually interact with their idols.

In the hologram theatre, visitors can choose to watch a holographic concert of six SM artists -- Girls’ Generation, Super Junior, TVXQ, EXO, SHINee and f(x).

By expanding the hologram theater into Japan, the nation’s biggest label is exporting not just hologram contents, but also cutting-edge virtual reality technologies.

SM Entertainment first introduced the hologram theater to Japan in 2013 by opening one at its signature Universal Studios in Osaka.

In Korea, the label opened SMTOWN@coexartium in Samsung-dong, southern Seoul.

The five-story complex features in-house virtual reality studio, a cafe, a K-pop merchandise shop and a hologram theater, gaining recognition as a must-visit place for K-pop fans.
