A host of Korean artists will earn various honors for their contributions to the K-pop industry on Wednesday at the fourth Gaon Chart K-pop Awards, to be held in Seoul.

The annual event will honor K-pop groups and solo artists who were at the forefront of the K-pop boom at home and abroad last year.

Popular boy bands including Super Junior, WINNER and EXO as well as girl groups including KARA, 2NE1, Apink, Sistar and AOA will attend the event.

Seven-thousand free tickets to the event were booked within eight minutes.

Cohosted by entertainment news outlet Star News and music ranking site Gaon Chart, the Gaon Chart K-pop Awards acknowledges the top-selling albums, tracks and artists of the year.

The three-hour award ceremony will begin at 6:50 p.m. on Wednesday at the Gymnastics Stadium at Olympic Park, eastern Seoul. It will air live on the cable TV channels KBS Drama, Joy and W.
