K-pop boy group JYJ’s first Japanese single “Wake Me Tonight” topped Japan’s most popular music chart on Tuesday.

The new track reportedly sold 20,609 copies on Wednesday, the day of its release, rising to the No. 2 spot on Japan’s Oricon daily chart. The song also topped Japan’s Tower Records and HMV 24 Hours charts last week.

Though the group, consisting of Yoochun, Junsu and Jaejoong, has always enjoyed high popularity in Japan, the new single marks the trio’s first official album release in the country under the Japanese entertainment agency K-Dash.

Last year, JYJ’s Korean album “Just Us,” which was not officially released through a distributor in Japan, topped the local charts as well.
