Hallyu star Lee Min-ho revealed that his strong curiosity led him to take the part of a tough guy in the upcoming film “Gangnam 1970.”

Directed by well-known filmmaker Yoo Ha, “Gangnam 1970” portrays the lives of two men who were raised together in an orphanage. The movie, set Gangnam in the 1970s, revolves around their friendship, betrayal, and lust for money and power.

“Every male actor in Korea wants to get a role in director Yoo Ha’s movies,” Lee said at a press preview of “Gangnam 1970” held in Seoul on Monday. “That was one of the reasons behind my decision to take part in this film”

“Most importantly, although I’m currently living in Gangnam district, I’m unfamiliar with the Gangnam district of the 1970s,” Lee said. His curiosity about the Gangnam of the past eventually led to his role in the film.

Lee showed off his masculinity and charisma in “Gangnam 1970” -- the third film of his career.

“Gangnam 1970” is set to be released nationwide on Jan. 21.
