Lee Jong-suk tastes success in 2014

Actor Lee Jong-suk spent the year 2014 enjoying his success as a rising hallyu star.

Starring in two SBS dramas -- “Doctor Stranger” and “Pinocchio” -- this year, Lee was widely praised for his impressive acting skills, ultimately becoming the youngest actor to win the Grime’s Awards in 2014.

The actor’s popularity is not just limited to domestic fans, but also overseas.

Among the many Asian countries, Lee is receiving particular attention from China. The 24-year-old remains high on the male actor
rankings provided by Baidu, China’s widely used portal site.

He was also chosen as ninth among the “Top 50 beautiful people” list by Sohu.com, ranking highest among South Korean male celebrities.

Along with Lee’s popularity, the star’s current drama “Pinocchio” is drawing attention from China as well. Co-starring hallyu queen Park Shin-hye, the drama had sold its distribution rights for arecord price to China’s largest video portal site Youku Tudou. The drama reached more than 400 million views already.

Along with the star’s success, fans are wondering if Lee can clinch another award at the SBS Drama Awards scheduled on Wednesday.
