Yang Hyun-suk, CEO of YG Entertainment, apologized for the scandals involving his artists this year on a TV talk show.

In the episode that aired on Monday, Yang addressed the issues that have plagued his company this year ranging from drugs to car accidents involving YG’s hit groups Big Bang, 2NE1 and others.

“First of all, I am embarrassed about the incidents that could have been avoided. I want to say sorry,” Yang said.

The remarks come in response to a question raised by veteran singer Yoo Hee-yeol who appeared on the show as a guest. He asked how Yang thinks about YG Entertainment becoming an icon of scandal in 2014.

“I should have managed them better. Young musicians are not aware that they should be hard on themselves when they are celebrities,” he added.

“A mistake can be forgiven and embraced, but it should not be repeated. We will be more careful,” he said.

Back in July, it was belatedly revealed that 2NE1 member Park Bom attempted to allegedly smuggle illegal drugs into Korea in 2010 but did not face charges.


Big Bang member G-Dragon was also involved in a drug scandal, and has continuously denied the rumors that he had dated Japanese actress Kiko Mizuhara.

Another Big Bang member Seungri had a car accident in September as his car overturned. He was suspected of overspeeding.
