Kim Soo-hyun to sing at Nanjing Youth Olympics opening

Actor Kim Soo-hyun will reportedly sing the theme song at the opening ceremony of the Nanjing Youth Olympics in China.

According to Sina.com and various Chinese news agencies, Kim is to stage a performance together with Chinese pop star Zhang Liangying on Saturday.

The reports on Kim’s appearance at the sports event went viral among local fans as Kim has established a large fandom in Asia amid huge success in Korean TV show “My Love From The Star.”

The theme of the upcoming Youth Olympics is “Dianliang Weilai,” or “Light Up To Meet The Future” and Kim is to land in Nanjing, China on Thursday to rehearse for the last time, the reports added.

The Youth Olympics organization committee, however, said that it is still at the stage where celebrities' participation in the theme song are confidential.

The second summer Youth Olympics held in Nanjing is to bring in some 3,500 teenage athletes from 204 countries, competing in 28 categories. The event will kick off on Saturday and run through Aug. 28.
