TVXQ’s third Japanese studio album “TREE.” SM Entertainment

Acclaimed K-pop duo TVXQ is making history in the Japanese music scene, setting fresh records on Japan’s biggest music chart Oricon with its third Japanese studio album “TREE.”

Immediately after its release on March 5, “TREE” climbed to the top of Oricon’s daily and weekly album charts, becoming TVXQ’s fourth album to top Oricon after its compilation album “Best Selection 2010” (2010) and two studio albums, “TONE” (2011) and “TIME” (2013).

“TREE” has sold roughly 225,000 copies since its release last week, making TVXQ the first foreign group to have three consecutive studio albums surpass the 200,000 mark in album sales in Japan during the first week, breaking American rock band Bon Jovi’s record.

“TVXQ has surpassed the 200,000 mark in album sales for the third successive time with its third studio album ‘TREE,’ breaking Bon Jovi’s record with two consecutive albums, in 13 years and 10 months,” announced Oricon on its news page.

TVXQ’s new Japanese album features 14 tracks including hit singles such as “Hide & Seek,” “Something” and “SCREAM,” which continue to top Oricon’s weekly singles chart as well.
