Rookie actress Jo Woo-ri has been cast in the upcoming KBS2 TV drama “Descendants of the Sun” to play opposite idol-actor Onew, local news reported.

The drama, penned by Kim Eun-sook and produced by Lee Eng-bok, tells the story of young soldiers and doctors dreaming of true love and success.

Starring A-list actor Song Joong-gi and actress Song Hye-kyo in the leading roles, the TV series is set to feature Jo as a doctor engaged to Onew‘s character.

The 23-year-old budding actress shared her thoughts on being cast in the drama with established actors.

“It is such an honor to get to work with senior actors for a big drama like this. I’ll try hard not to become a burden on the other actors and staff,” said Jo.

Jo is currently taking on the role of the youngest daughter of Jung Bo-suk‘s character in the drama entitled “A Daughter Like You.”
