Stray Kids react to BTS, GOT7 and Monsta X performances

Stray Kids said in a livestream late Sunday night that performances at the Golden Disc Awards by bigger K-pop boy bands BTS, GOT7 and Monsta X had “wowed and inspired” them.

The annual event took place in Seoul on Saturday and Sunday and the nine-member group, which debuted in March, won rookie artist of the year.

“We had the honor of covering the work of a great K-pop act on stage today,” Changbin said during the livestream. Stray Kids performed Big Bang’s 2015 hit “Bang Bang Bang” on top of its own songs.

“It was also great to be able to watch great groups perform,” the band members said.

They mentioned the performances of GOT7, Monsta X and BTS, saying GOT7’s “Miracle” had been superb and Monsta X’s water-dance performance had made their hearts drop.

When discussing BTS’ performance of "Idol," which involved riding a giant animal statue to the center of the stage, Changbin said the animal reminded him of the mythical Korean creature Haechi.

(G)I-DLE’s Shuhua gets a surprise b-day party

Rookie girl group (G)I-DLE on Sunday threw a surprise birthday party for Chinese member Shuhua while she was airing a V Live broadcast.

Shuhua, apparently not knowing what was in store for her, began the livestream with bandmate Soojin, casually talking about various topics.

Over 20 minutes into the 33-minute broadcast, the other bandmates showed up with a cake, singing “Happy Birthday.”

“I was so sad (because no one wished me happy birthday.) No one posted anything on Instagram (about my birthday),” Shuhua said in a whiny voice.

“I almost said happy birthday to Shuhua last night. Instead, I just said good night,” Minnie revealed.

The six-member band, which consists of Miyeon, Minnie, Soojin, Soyeon, Yuqi and Shuhua, debuted in May 2018. Since then it has released the hit songs “Latata” and “Hann (Alone).”
