Songstress Ben will sue online commenters for defamation and rumormongering.

Representing Ben, Major 9 announced Tuesday that it would no longer ignore those who leave vicious online comments and spread rumors.

“Such malicious comments and rumors are deeply hurting Ben, as well as her fans. We will take strong legal action with no mercy,” Major 9 said.

“180 Degrees,” the title track of Ben’s latest EP, topped music charts, including Melon, for some 10 days after its release on Dec. 7.

Ben’s track took the No. 1 spot at midnight upon its release, before the charts “freeze” from 1 a.m. to 7 a.m. Music streaming services freeze their chart rankings at night to prevent fans from mass mobilizing and manipulating the rankings.

As Ben stayed at the top, beating popular K-pop idols including EXO, Twice, Wanna One, Jennie and Mino, rumors of chart rigging spread on online communities.

Other artists, including Shaun and Nilo, also faced accusations of chart manipulation earlier this year.

Ben debuted with the female trio BeBe Mignon in 2010. She has contributed to drama soundtracks, including “Mr. Sunshine” and “Re:Playlist Vol.3.”
