[V Report Plus] Who is most popular on V?

Since its launch on Aug. 1, the real-time broadcasting V app has gained momentum here and abroad, allowing fans to watch their favorite stars go live and interact with them. Viewers are now wondering who are the most popular stars on the app that boasts more than 30 K-pop acts.

As of Monday, K-pop boy band Big Bang has the most number of followers with 723,520 fans. The five-member band has appeared on V for a special broadcast ahead of releasing their hugely popular EP “E” in early August.

As five members are set to start their individual broadcasts consecutively on V -- kicking off with G-Dragon on Wednesday -- Big Bang is expected to rack up more fans in the coming weeks.

Seven-member BTS ranked second on the list with 612,535 fans, establishing themselves as one of the fastest rising rookies in the industry. BTS members have been one of the most active stars on the app, checking in from various countries when they are abroad, including Thailand, Japan and Brazil. They also host a fun weekly show “Run BTS!” and engage with their global fans regularly.

Next on the list are the channels of two mega showbiz agencies SM Entertainment and YG Entertainments -- SM Town and YG Family, respectively.

SM Town -- which includes the label’s headliners Girls’ Generation, EXO, SHINee, Super Junior and BoA -- attracted 579,160 fans, while YG Family -- home to Big Bang, 2NE1, Psy and Winner -- garnered 426,047 fans.

YG Entertainment’s two rookie groups are extremely popular on the app. IKON -- the seven-member boy group set to make its debut on Sept. 7 -- racked up 417,686 fans while boy quintet Winner has 401,059 fans.

Girl group Apink ranked seventh with 397,757 fans, while GOT7, BTOB and Infinite followed on the list.
