Super Junior wins Teen Choice Award

K-pop boy band Super Junior won the Choice International Artist award at the annual Teen Choice Awards on Sunday, becoming the first Korean group to receive the honor presented by the U.S.-based Fox television network.

The 2015 Teen Choice Awards took place on Sunday night in Los Angeles, where some of the biggest stars in music, fashion, film and TV gathered to receive the awards based on the votes of millions of teenagers around the globe via social media.

The 13-member group won the Choice International Artist award, which is given to the most influential group outside the U.S., beating A-list nominees like Girls’ Generation, 2NE1, British band One Direction and Australian pop punk band 5 Seconds of Summer.

Super Junior’s official fan club E.L.F. received the Choice Fandom Award, given to an influential fan club.

More than 25 million people voted online for this year’s Teen Choice Awards, which honors some of the most popular players in the entertainment industry.
