'The Producers' IU attends beauty awards event in China

K-pop singer IU, who is currently starring in hit TV drama “The Producers,” Monday attended a beauty awards event for a Chinese makeup brand.

IU has been modeling for Qdsuh, a Chinese cosmetics brand, since summer last year. The singer and actress, 22, attended as the brand‘s model at the Suhu International Style Awards in Guangzhou, China, at which she wore a shell pink dress.

IU, whose real name is Lee Ji-eun, has been gaining popularity in China for appearing in the drama “The Producers,” which also stars celebrated actor Kim Soo-hyun.

The TV drama sold its rights to a Chinese online platform for over $2.4 million before its premiere in mid-May.

In “The Producers,” IU plays Cindy, a haughty pop star and love interest of actor Kim Soo-hyun.

“The Producers” is broadcast every Friday and Saturday at 9:15 p.m. The series, which has already garnered massive revenues from commercials, sponsorships and overseas sales, will air its final episode this Saturday.
