Lee's "2015 Asia Tour in Shanghai," held in Luwan Gymnasium for two hours from 7:30 p.m., was also the most searched event on China’s top portal website Sina Weibo.

"It was great to hold this live broadcast event with fans, who couldn't make it to the fan meeting for whatever reason," said Lee.

The "Pinocchio" lead star added that he had gotten letters and heard from fans who couldn't see him in person for reasons including "physical discomfort" and 'living too far away."

Lee, 25, said the fan meeting was a positive opportunity to return the affections of his loyal fan base. The actor also thanked fans on Instagram.

The Shanghai fan meeting marked the former fashion model's fifth anniversary since launching his acting career in 2010. Most recently, he starred in the 2014-2015 hit drama "Pinocchio" opposite celebrated actress Park Shin-hye, which was a romantic series about investigative reporters.
