Boy group BTS receives rookie award
K-pop boy band BTS was recognized as “rookie of the year” at the 4th Gaon Chart K-pop Awards on Wednesday.
The group received the “World Rookie Award” alongside up-and-coming girl group EXID and boy group Block B, which both received the “Hot Trend Award.”
“Thank you so much for such a special award. We would like to express special thanks to all our staff and fans,” the group’s leader Rap Monster said during the acceptance speech.

BTS, consisting of members Rap Monster, Jin, Jimin, V, Suga, J-Hope and Jungkook, debuted with the EP “2 COOL 4 SKOOL” in 2013. The group is known for many hit singles including “Boy in Luv” and “Danger.”
Every year, the Gaon Chart K-POP Awards recognizes K-pop artists based on the amount of online traffic and downloads that their songs receive.
BTS is scheduled to release a set of pictures taken in Europe and the United States on Feb. 16.
